GMK 2016/2017 Winter Edition - Introduction

Page11.jpg

Welcome to our first 2017 edition of GMK.  Another year brings new challenges for the Parish Council and we are already planning ahead with a view to redeveloping the Grosvenor Centre to enhance facilities for parishioners.  We look forward to working with Heron Brook Community Leisure Group (HBCL), which has expressed a wish to work with the Parish Council, in order to provide gym facilities in the new Centre. There will be a more detailed update on how we are progressing with this work in the next issue of GMK.

Another exciting Gfest is almost upon us and we hope that you will all give as much support to events as you possibly can.  The programme of activities is varied and there is always something for everyone to enjoy. Ticket costs, where applicable, are kept to an absolute minimum and provide excellent value for money.

We have lots of articles in this edition which we hope you will enjoy and we wish you all a very happy and healthy 2017.

Pride in your Patch Award 2016

At a Stafford Borough Council awards ceremony in November 2016, Gnosall Parish Council was announced as the Pride In Your Patch Award overall winner, in the Action in the Community (Group) category. This was in recognition of our year-round work to improve the quality of life for people who live and work in the village.

A beautiful cut glass trophy, £50 in vouchers and a certificate were received, together with a certificate from the sponsors of the event, Helping Hand, in honour of our outstanding contributions to Environmental Improvements.

This award belongs not only to Gnosall Parish Council but also to all our volunteers and groups in recognition for the hard work that goes on around the parish.

We will display the award with pride and, even after the challenges of 2016, we can be proud of what we have achieved and this award was the icing on the cake.  We can truly boast that we take ‘Pride in our Patch’.

This award comes hot on the heels of Gnosall also winning the Best Kept Large Village award for Staffordshire. Dave Clarke of the Gnosall BKV Group  said  “It’s all about community, not which village is the prettiest, but real evidence of a community working together. Loads of people have got involved and done their bit from the pubs and business and shops”.
