Introduction to GMK

Welcome to the new GMK!

Since the last edition, I am sorry to report that Cllr Shirley Wallis, Moreton Ward, and Cllr Jamie Cook, Gnosall Ward, have resigned from the Parish Council due to personal circumstances. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the valued contributions they made on behalf of the parish and wish them well for the future.  As we say goodbye to Shirley and Jamie, I am pleased to be able to welcome two new Councillors to the Parish Council: Tony Innamorati, who was co-opted as a Councillor for Moreton Ward at the April Council meeting and Victoria Kessey, who was co-opted as a Councillor for Gnosall at the June Council meeting.  Both new Councillors are already getting involved in various projects and meetings and their details have been added to the website should you need to contact them and raise any questions.

As a reminder, this year’s Gfest runs from 15th until 25th July .  A lot of planning goes into making Gfest possible and the varied programme of events means there is something of interest for everyone. I hope that you will go along and support as much as you can and help to make it a resounding success for yet another year!

As I write, contractors are busy repairing the Boardwalk as weather conditions have been favourable and I know parishioners are eagerly awaiting completion of the work and are looking forward to using the boardwalk again; it has been greatly missed. The repaired section of the boardwalk will have a slightly different look which I am sure will be of benefit and interest to everyone.

I reported in the last edition of GMK that a new play area was being planned at Chippy Jumps.  This project has been completed and provides play equipment for older children and it is certainly being well-used.

The Gnosall Grosvenor Youth Club (GG’s Youth Club) continues to go from strength to strength and celebrated its first birthday on 26th April with lots of cakes and goodies.  What a fantastic year GGs has had!  Lots of fundraising events are planned throughout this year so please show your support for GGs by attending their events as all proceeds will be ploughed back into the Youth Club and will be used to fund equipment, improve facilities and provide organised trips, etc for members.

You will find a booklet, produced by Gnosall Patient Forum, included in this edition of GMK to help raise awareness of the aims and objectives of the Forum. I am the Parish Council representative on this group and we would like to invite new members to come along and give their views on local health services.  If you are interested and can spare just a few hours every other month, then please come along to the next meeting; you will be most welcome.

I hope you enjoy this edition of GMK and if you have any comments, good or bad, on its content or format, then please do let us know.

Cllr Pat Alker, Chair of Gnosall Parish Council
