GG’s (Grosvenor Gnosall Youth Club)

The New Youth Club has officially opened and what a success it is.  We were confident that restoring the former youth club service would be successful, but the turnout surpassed our wildest dreams.  These first few sessions have seen numbers of children attending, both from Gnosall Parish and surrounding villages, reaching 40. Paul Prince.jpg

The revamped former St John building is now a hive of activity between 7.00-9.00pm on Wednesday nights with 9-11 year old children playing all sorts of games and participating in activities, and most importantly thoroughly enjoying themselves.

The first night of the new youth club, held on 13th April, was very much like a busy version of the TV programme 60 Minute Makeover.  There was tremendous effort by the local community to get the building ready in such a short space of time.  The Parish Council only took over the management of the former St John Ambulance building at the beginning of April and on a limited budget the internal structure was quickly transformed to make it into a more functional building for a youth club.  A massive thank you to Paul Prince and his team of volunteer helpers who did a fantastic job on this part of the re-construction.

Thankfully, much of the equipment from the former County Council youth club had been saved and this was scrubbed clean and repaired by parish councillors and staff. The outside of the building was cleaned by hand by a willing volunteer,  the windows were cleaned free of charge by local window cleaner Mick Ferguson and our new youth leader, Yvette Spencer along with parish council staff cleaned the inside of the building and set up the equipment ready for the grand opening. queue.jpg

We are very fortunate to have a growing team of wonderful volunteer youth leaders, who have helped throughout the setting up of this project. They were delighted that so many children attended and took part in all of the activities - a donated table football was particularly popular, as was the table tennis tournament, various craftwork and biscuit decorating.  Lots of new and exciting activities are planned for the future, including sporting activities on the field behind the youth club in the summer months.

Thank you to everyone who has helped with this project over the last year and for the very positive comments following the first sessions.
